Driver Improvement Clinic - Classroom

WHY TAKE THIS COURSE

  • SATISFY A DMV REQUIREMENT. If you were ordered by the Virginia DMV to attend a driver improvement clinic, you will have 90 days to finish the course. Upon successful completion of the program, we will report it electronically to DMV. If you are 18 or older, you will earn 5 safe driving points that will be applied to the demerit points in the order in which they were received.
  • SATISFY A COURT JUDGMENT. If you were ordered by a judge to attend a driver improvement clinic, it is your responsibility to turn in your completion certificate to the court prior to your assigned due date. You must submit the court's written authorization for point reduction before any point reduction will occur.
  • REMOVE POINTS FROM MY RECORD. You may voluntarily attend a driver improvement clinic once every two years to reduce the accumulated demerit point total on your driving record. Successful completion of this clinic will remove 5 points from your record. You may select remove points or obtain insurance discount, but not both.
  • OBTAIN AN INSURANCE DISCOUNT. Insurance carriers may offer discounts to policyholders under the age of 55 who successfully complete a DMV-approved driver improvement clinic. Be sure to confirm with your agent whether your insurance company offers this benefit. You may select remove points or obtain insurance discount, but not both.
  • BECOME A SAFER DRIVER. Of course, if your goal is simply to become a safer, more responsible driver, we're always here to help you with that, too!
  • NEED A DIFFERENT COURSE. While this course will meet the needs of most people, if you hold a commercial driver’s license, you must take a different class. Click here. This course is not a substitute for the 3X FAIL course.

COURSE DETAILS

  • CONTENT When you complete the course, you will have up-to-date knowledge of the rules of the road, laws for drivers, and accident avoidance. And you'll be a better, safer driver to boot!
  • FINAL EXAM To successfully complete the course, you must pass a final exam with a minimum score of 80%. But don't worry — it's not rocket science. The completion of your student workbook will help get you prepared. The final exam is given at the end of the course.
  • CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION We will notify you immediately of your graduation and provide you the certificate of completion at the end of the class. We will also notify DMV electronically within 24 hours of your course completion.
Schedule of Driver Improvement Clinic Classes

Note changes to class schedules will be updated by Friday at 12 p.m. if there is a cancellation or a reschedule. All classes are on a Saturday. We suggest that once you sign up that you please arrive 15 minutes early and bring a lunch.
